RSS-2D CATV Dual-Band Automatic Redundancy Switch

The RSS-2D is a 1GHz automatic Broadband RF switch designed to provide redundancy to an RF Trunk feeds received at a remote Hub over split-band fiber link. The RSS-2D monitors independently the low and high band of the switch primary input, to switch to the backup input Trunk feed if either the low or the high band RF level of the primary input drops below its threshold setting.

 

The RSS-2D split-band Automatic Redundancy Switch can optionally monitor the backup input Trunk feed to provide local & remote monitoring of both inputs and to prevent switch to the backup input if it is degraded and below its Threshold level setting.

 

The RSS-2D provides front panel switch override and switch & level status indication. Connections are also available on the back of the RSS unit to enable remote status monitoring of the input RF levels (primary High/low and backup), with indication of the switch position. In addition, contact closure inputs are available for remote switch control to override both switch automatic operation and front panel toggle switch. Optional RS-232 and Ethernet/IP ports are also available for remote monitoring and switch control of the RSS station over a dial-up line or an Ethernet Network.

 

Several versions of the RSS Broadband monitor & automatic switching station are offered to monitor:

     - The main trunk feed only (RSS-1R)

     -  Simultaneously the main & the Back-up trunk feeds (RSS-2R)

     -Simultaneously the Low-band & High-band of the main trunk feed (RSS-2D)

     - The main Trunk feed of (3) separate Automatic A/B Switches (RSS-3T)

 

An L-Band (950–1450MHz) version of the RSS product is also available to monitor separately (from the same 1-RU chassis) satellite receiver Vertical & Horizontal polarized LNB outputs with automatic switchover to a back up LNB feed.

 

Several other RSS products are available to monitor Single (selectable) CATV channel, DVB-ASI & SDI feeds, analog video/audio channels for automatic switching in Headend signal redundancy applications.
