RSS1-ASI Dual-Output DVB-ASI Automatic Switch
The RSS1-ASI is an automatic switch with two independent outputs. It is designed to provide redundancy to two TV channels in DVB-ASI format received at Broadcast transmission sites and CATV Headend/Hub sites. It designed to independently monitor the main & backup input feeds for automatic switchover to the backup input when the main input drops below its threshold setting and with alarming capabilities over IP-networks. The switch automatically returns to the main input on signal restoration, with a built-in Hysteresis.
Because the RSS station monitors both inputs, it will automatically switch to its backup input only when the level of that input is above its threshold level setting. This feature can be disabled remotely. Additionally, the switch incorporates fail-safe design to switch back to the main input, on power loss to the RSS station.
The RSS1-ASI offers front-panel switch override capability, as well as status indication of switch position and input signal presence. Back-chassis terminal connections are also available for remote status monitoring when connected to an existing Monitor-n-Control system at the remote site. They can also be used to signal/drive other equipment at the site via relay contacts.
In addition, a serial and Ethernet/IP port are available with embedded SNMP protocol, Web-server and Email-Alert-messaging for remote monitoring alarm and control over Ethernet IP-Networks, and over dial-up line for the switch DTMF phone-control. Remote control is designed to override both switch automatic operation and front panel toggle switch.
An optional NEG 48 Volt-DC input socket is offered with and without redundancy of the power supply input.
For applications, where redundancy is needed for larger number of ASI or SDI feeds at the same site, the RSS-2ASI & RSS-6ASI can be used, as they house two and six independent automatic switches in a one or 2-U Rack-mount chassis, with the advantage of rack space saving and single IP-Ethernet connection to monitor/control all six switches.
