RSS-2L L-Band Dual Automatic Switch
The RSS-2L switching station incorporates two (2) automatic A/B switches, which can be operated for independent or tandem switching. The RSS-2L is designed to provide redundancy to Horizontal & Vertical LNB feeds received from a satellite dish. For other applications requiring switching of a large number of L-Band feeds at the same site, such as the backup of LNB feeds of a dish farm by feeds from a SimulSat multi-feed dish antenna, or from an L-Band Fiber transport, the highly integrated RSS-6L housing six (6) switches is recommended.
Tekron RSS-2L offers excellent specifications with minimum insertion loss and a high isolation environment between inputs in the L-Band 900–2100MHz. It monitors independently the main & backup input feeds of each switch module for automatic operation and alarming. Threshold level adjustments are accessible from the front panel independently for main & backup inputs for each switch module. The switch returns automatically to the main input upon signal restoration above Threshold level, with a built-in Hysteresis. It also prevents switching to the backup input if its level is degraded & below its Threshold point.
Front panel status LED and toggle override/control switch are available with back-chassis terminal connections for local monitoring and switch control.
Ethernet/IP & RS-232 ports are available at the back of the chassis for remote monitoring, alarm and control. While the SNMP protocol is used for alarming to and remote monitor &/control by NOC “Network Operation Center” over the IP-Network, an embedded Web-Server allows regional & local technical personal to remotely access (password protected) for status monitoring and switch override/control from a Web-page using any standard Web browser, with E-mail text-message Alert capability.
The Serial port is used with an external modem to override/control the switch by DTMF (phone) switch control commands over telephone dial-up line.
Optional back-chassis (contact closure) terminal connections are also available to interface with existing Monitor-n-Control systems at the remote site to pass monitoring & alarm conditions, and allow remote switch override & control of each switch in the chassis.
Remote control functions over the IP-Network include commands to disable automatic-return, to allow for example technical staff to resolve an intermittent problem before returning to normal automatic switch operation. Monitoring backup input feed can also be set for alarming only, thus preventing it from affecting the automatic switch operation.
Tekron Communication manufactures a complete line of automatic switching RSS products for the Redundancy & Monitoring of CATV RF-Broadband & LNB/L-Band feeds, analog Video & audio/4.5 or RF channels in disaster recovery applications. Some models are suitable and also in use for community (PEG) channel automation/sharing or redundancy applications.
